BIOGRAPHY

10 years after their debut album “Not Here – Not Now” was released – an album still highly valued in the shoegaze scene – Malory are back once again! November 2009 will see the release of their 4th Album “Pearl Diver”.

The phrase “the prophet in his own country, has nothing” seems to apply quite aptly to Malory, who have seen an ever increasing appreciation and love for their unique sound expand on a larger scale abroad than the dedicated fanbase in their home country of Germany.

No surprise then that they released two albums in the US, one single in the UK plus many appearances on international compilations, such as the in 2007 released compilation The Secret Garden Vol.1 on Geoff Barrow's (Portishead) label Invada Records in Bristol.

Having toured the US, Canada and the UK in the past, it seems natural for Malory to once again seek the release of their latest work abroad.

The London Indie/Shoegaze label Club AC30 have become a household name in the shoegaze scene, with bands such as the big Air Formation, Televise, Deep Cut and Hearts of Black Science under their belt. This kind of music is an art of its own.

“With a little delay the seemingly long written-off Waft Sound is back and it suits its character perfectly - slow, gliding upwards, it flows along whilst painting a wonderful watercolour sound. Surely, the seed that was planted in the minds of the four friends from Doebeln, Germany, is of English origin. Nevertheless they’ve managed to lock themselves away in their studio and pressed the ‘reset’ button to create a soundscape that is definitively “Made in Germany”. The end result has produced a time travel through two decades of noise landscapes, a homage to their biggest heroes; A canvas of a thousand colours, drawn two steps away from the usual, conventional path but where the view onto the myth of this sound is still bright and clear. With their fourth work and their musical inside turned out, Malory have discovered that all exploration ends with a look onto a new bright future...”
